2025 will mark 40 years of me making music.
XL, as well as being shorthand for ‘extra large,’ it also means the number 40 in Roman numerals.
In 1985, after an unexpectedly shocking set of A Level results, I scraped together my cash, bought a mono synth with a built-in sequencer, and started writing songs then recording them on cassette. My music became my refuge, my solace, my diary, my entertainment.
After rectifying the Academic situation and going off to University, I still kept making music.
Back then, I had no idea I’d have a music career – being a record label owner, working in South Africa, having my tunes used on American TV, played by well-known DJs and having over 40 albums released.
After my cancer recovery, I love making music even more. It is still my refuge, my solace, my diary, my entertainment.
In 2025, to celebrate 40 years of this music journey, I will be releasing 2 LPs called Songs For Superheroes and Secret Identity, and XL versions of previous albums that will include rare remixes and previously unheard tracks.
